COURSE CURRICULUM

The Liberal Arts BA program includes a series of compulsory modules designed to build a strong foundation in interdisciplinary study and research. In the first year, the Introducing Liberal Arts module introduces students to the liberal arts tradition, exploring ideals of personal and intellectual development, the concept of a just society, and the value of studying across disciplines. This module helps students understand how different areas of knowledge can be connected and applied to broader social and cultural contexts. In the second year, the Student Research Partnerships module offers students the chance to engage directly with ongoing research within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures. Working closely with academic staff and fellow students, participants contribute to projects linked to current research, developing practical skills in investigation, analysis, and the creation of new knowledge. In the third year, the Independent Research Project in Liberal Arts allows students to undertake an extended writing assignment on a theme of their choice, building on knowledge and skills gained throughout the degree. The project encourages students to integrate insights from their major discipline with other areas of study, using interdisciplinary approaches to explore complex questions. This sequence of modules cultivates critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to synthesize knowledge across fields, preparing graduates for a wide range of academic and professional paths.
