COURSE CURRICULUM

This program offers a structured yet flexible journey through history and philosophy. In Year 1, compulsory modules introduce essential historical methods and foundational philosophical reasoning, supported by a wide selection of optional modules spanning medieval to modern history, global themes, and introductory philosophical topics. Year 2 develops advanced analytical skills through core modules in philosophical method and practical historical research, complemented by diverse optional modules covering areas such as modern philosophy, political and moral theory, metaphysics, religion, global histories and social change. In Year 3, you undertake an extended independent project in either subject and choose a specialist history pathway, alongside advanced optional modules in philosophy and global historical themes. Throughout the degree, discovery modules allow you to tailor your learning beyond the core curriculum.
