COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environment and Business BA combines the study of environmental sustainability with core business principles, equipping students to address the challenges and opportunities businesses face in a changing world. In the first year, students gain a foundation in economics, environmental science, business ethics, corporate responsibility, and social science research skills, alongside fieldwork and study skills to prepare for independent study. Optional modules allow students to explore areas such as law, entrepreneurship, management, and natural hazards. In the second year, the focus shifts to applying business skills to real-world environmental challenges, with modules on sustainable business tools, economics and sustainability, and research preparation for final-year projects. Students engage with business executives, develop analytical skills, and explore the interface between business practices and environmental impact, while optional modules provide opportunities to study innovation, energy, law, biodiversity, and climate-related issues. In the final year, students undertake a substantial research project and examine strategies for sustainable development, learning to implement change in economic and social contexts. Optional modules allow further specialization in areas such as international business management, environmental law, marketing, corporate strategy, gender and diversity, and global value chains. The program equips graduates with the skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to sustainable business practices and environmental problem-solving.
