COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Healthcare Leadership program is structured around a series of core modules designed to develop reflective, informed, and effective healthcare leaders. The Self as Leader module builds strong foundations in self-awareness and leadership theory, enabling students to identify their personal traits, strengths, weaknesses, and leadership behaviours within established theoretical frameworks to support ongoing professional development. Supporting Change, Innovation, and Problem-Solving develops a critical understanding of how innovation and problem-solving drive organisational change in healthcare, encouraging students to evaluate strategies for managing change while recognising its impact on individuals and teams. Promoting Quality and Safety in Healthcare focuses on leadership capabilities required to enhance organisational effectiveness, improve care quality, and maximise patient safety through evidence-based practice, quality improvement frameworks, and human factors principles. Global Perspectives on Healthcare Policy broadens students’ understanding of leadership within policy environments by examining how healthcare policy is shaped at local, national, and international levels, and how these forces influence organisational priorities and clinical practice worldwide. The Capstone Project allows students to integrate and apply their learning through a self-designed project, such as a service improvement initiative or leadership development activity, demonstrating analytical, creative, and practical skills within a real-world healthcare context.
