COURSE CURRICULUM

The Banking and Finance (Professional Practice) MSc program includes a comprehensive set of modules designed to build strong knowledge of financial systems, markets, and professional skills. Students study core areas such as Principles of Finance, Investment and Portfolio Management, Financial Reporting and Company Performance, Modern Banking, and Financial Markets and Institutions, which develop a solid understanding of how financial organisations operate. International Finance and Quantitative Financial Analysis enhance global awareness and analytical abilities, while The Global Professional and Consultancy Skills focus on employability and workplace readiness. Students also undertake a Group Consultancy Project and an Individual Research Project, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world financial challenges. Research Methods supports academic development, and the Launch a Venture module encourages entrepreneurial thinking. A key feature of the course is the Professional Practice module, which offers the opportunity to gain practical experience through a six-month placement, helping students reflect on their personal and professional development. However, this placement must be selected at the application stage and is competitive, with limited availability. Students must apply and attend interviews to secure positions, and placements are not guaranteed. Overall, the program provides a balanced mix of theory, practical experience, and professional development for careers in finance.
