COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting and Finance (Professional Practice) MSc program includes a range of modules designed to build strong knowledge in financial management and accounting within a global context. Students study core subjects such as Principles of Finance, Management Accounting, Financial Reporting and Company Performance, and Corporate Finance, which develop technical expertise in analysing financial data and making strategic decisions. Modules like Corporate Governance and Contemporary Issues in Accounting and Corporate Social Responsibility provide insight into ethical, regulatory, and global challenges that impact modern financial practices. The Global Professional module further supports the development of transferable skills needed for international careers. A key feature of the course is the Professional Practice module, which allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in a real work environment through a placement lasting up to six months. This experience also encourages reflection on personal and professional development through a reflective log assessment. However, entry into the placement route must be selected at the application stage and is competitive, with limited availability. Students are required to apply and interview for placement opportunities, and securing a position is not guaranteed. Overall, the course offers a balance of academic learning, practical experience, and professional skill development for careers in finance and accounting.
