COURSE CURRICULUM

The Paramedic Science (Pre-Registration) MSc is structured over two years, combining foundational knowledge, advanced theory, and extensive practical experience to prepare students for professional paramedic practice. In the first year, students focus on establishing core competencies through modules such as Foundations of Paramedic Practice and Contemporary Concepts in Paramedic Practice, which introduce the principles, ethics, and evolving roles of paramedics within healthcare systems. Paramedic Practice 1 provides hands-on clinical experience, allowing students to apply theory in real-world settings, while Assessment and Care of the Acute and Critically Ill equips learners with the skills to manage urgent and critical patient conditions, develop decision-making capabilities, and perform essential diagnostic assessments. The second year builds on these skills, with Paramedic Practice 2 focusing on advanced patient care and independent clinical decision-making. Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care Practice develops the knowledge required to lead teams, drive service improvement, and influence healthcare outcomes. Care of Special Circumstances and Vulnerable Groups teaches strategies for providing safe, effective care to diverse populations with complex needs, while Clinical ECGs in Paramedic Practice enhances technical diagnostic skills essential for cardiac assessment. This integrated program ensures graduates are fully prepared to deliver high-quality, autonomous, and compassionate care across a wide range of emergency and healthcare contexts.
