COURSE CURRICULUM

The Nursing (Pre-Registration) Adult MSc is structured over two years, combining theoretical study with practical placements to develop fully qualified adult nurses. In the first year, students focus on foundational professional development and nursing skills. Modules such as Becoming a Professional – Adult Nursing and Introduction to Adult Nursing introduce the principles of adult nursing and the professional standards required. Developing Critical Knowledge and Skills in Adult Nursing and Understanding Knowledge and Evidence for Nursing build analytical, clinical, and evidence-based practice capabilities, while Developing Research Knowledge and Evidence for Adult Nursing Practice equips students with essential research skills to support effective decision-making. Nursing Practice 1 provides practical, hands-on experience in clinical settings, allowing students to apply theory to real-world care. The second year emphasises advanced professional development and clinical competence. Modules such as Developing as a Professional, Being a Professional, and Enhancing Knowledge and Skills in Adult Nursing focus on consolidating clinical expertise and reflective practice. Nursing Practice 2 and 3 provide further structured clinical experience, enabling students to manage complex patient care confidently. Using Evidence and Research to Enhance Adult Nursing Practice ensures that graduates can integrate research into clinical decision-making to improve patient outcomes. This comprehensive program prepares students to meet Nursing and Midwifery Council standards and excel as skilled, compassionate adult nurses across diverse healthcare environments.
