COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health Professional Education MSc provides a structured and practical approach to developing expertise in teaching within healthcare contexts. The module Learning and Teaching: Theories, Processes and Strategies in HPE introduces students to the foundational principles of education, exploring theories of learning and teaching, instructional strategies, and approaches for engaging diverse learners in healthcare settings. Assessment in Health Professional Education focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of assessment methods, enabling students to measure learning outcomes effectively and ensure that teaching practices meet professional and educational standards. The Practice of Health Professional Education module allows students to apply these theories and strategies in real-world contexts through supervised teaching practice, helping them develop practical skills, confidence, and professional competence as educators. The Project (Health Related) provides an opportunity to undertake an independent research or development project, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical insights and addressing a specific question or challenge relevant to health professional education. Together, these modules ensure that graduates acquire a comprehensive understanding of educational theory, assessment, and practice, combined with the ability to conduct meaningful research in health education. Students leave the program prepared to enhance the quality of learning in healthcare environments while advancing their own professional development and teaching careers.
