COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law LLB(Hons) program provides a thorough grounding in legal knowledge while equipping students with practical and transferable skills needed for a career in law and related professions. In the first year, students study essential areas including 21st Century Legal and Employability Skills, Contract Law, Criminal Law, the English Legal System and Method, Law in Society, and Public Law, building a solid foundation in legal principles and professional competencies. The second year expands into more specialised areas, such as Equity and Trusts, EU Law, Land Law, and the Law of Torts, allowing students to deepen their understanding of both domestic and international legal frameworks. In the third year, students have the option to choose between two routes. Route A includes modules covering practical and applied law areas such as Immigration and Asylum Law, Legal Advice Clinic, Medical Law and Ethics, International Law in Practice, Human Rights in Practice, Employment Law, Family Law, and Intellectual Property, providing opportunities to develop professional expertise and experience in client-focused legal practice. Route B allows students to undertake an Independent Legal Research Project, fostering critical thinking, research skills, and intellectual independence. Throughout the course, students gain access to practical experiences, specialised resources, and mentoring, preparing them for careers as solicitors, barristers, legal assistants, paralegals, or further postgraduate study in law.
