COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law with Criminology LLB(Hons) course combines legal and criminological studies to prepare students for careers in the criminal justice system and legal professions. In the first year, students develop a solid foundation in core legal subjects, including Contract Law, Criminal Law, Public Law, and the English Legal System and Method, while also being introduced to criminology and criminal justice, gaining insight into crime, law enforcement, and societal responses to offending. In the second year, the focus expands to more advanced legal topics such as EU Law, Equity and Trusts, Land Law, and the Law of Torts, alongside a module on Criminological Explanations, which examines theories of crime, social influences, and the causes and consequences of criminal behavior. This combination allows students to understand the relationship between legal frameworks and the social context of crime. In the final year, students explore Contemporary and Comparative Criminology, analyzing criminal justice systems, policy approaches, and contemporary issues in crime across different societies. Throughout the course, practical experiences, critical thinking, and analytical skills are emphasized, equipping students with the knowledge and competencies needed for careers as solicitors, paralegals, legal advisors, probation officers, police officers, crime scene investigators, and related roles. Graduates also have the option to pursue further study to enhance expertise in law or criminology.
