COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport, Exercise and Nutrition BSc (Hons) course is structured over three years to build a strong scientific understanding of the relationship between nutrition, exercise, and health. In Year 1, students develop foundational knowledge across key areas such as anatomy and physiology, bioenergetics, metabolism, nutrition, biomechanics, psychology, and coaching, while also gaining essential research skills through Research Methods 1. In Year 2, the focus becomes more specialised, with modules such as Applied Nutrition and Assessment Methods and Nutrition for Exercise and Health, alongside continued study of physiology and the development of analytical skills in Research Methods 2. A work placement is included to provide practical, real-world experience in a professional setting. In Year 3, students advance their expertise through modules like Exercise Metabolism, Sport Nutrition: Research and Practice, and Applied Physiology for Sport and Exercise, allowing them to apply scientific knowledge to performance and health contexts. Applied Research Methods further enhances their ability to conduct and evaluate research. Overall, the course offers a balanced combination of theory, practical application, and professional experience, preparing graduates for careers in sports nutrition, health promotion, fitness, and related fields.
