COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport and Exercise Science BSc (Hons) course is structured over three years to build a strong foundation in scientific principles and develop applied skills for sport and health contexts. In Year 1, students are introduced to key areas through modules such as anatomy and physiology, bioenergetics, metabolism, nutrition, biomechanics, psychology, and coaching, alongside Research Methods 1 to develop basic research skills. In Year 2, the focus shifts to more advanced and applied topics, including biomechanics and performance analysis, nutrition for exercise and health, physiology, and sport psychology, while Research Methods 2 enhances analytical abilities. A work placement is also included, giving students valuable real-world experience in a professional setting. In Year 3, students refine their expertise through applied modules such as Applied Physiology, Applied Biomechanics, and Applied Sport Psychology, allowing them to use their knowledge in practical and performance-focused situations. Applied Research Methods further strengthens their ability to conduct and evaluate scientific research. Overall, the course provides a balanced mix of theory, practical application, and professional experience, preparing graduates for careers in sport performance, coaching, health, fitness, and related scientific fields.
