COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sound Engineering and Music Production BSc (Hons) course is structured over three years to build technical expertise, creative ability, and industry knowledge. In Year 1, students develop fundamental skills through modules such as Desktop Music Production 1, Studio Engineering and Mixing Essentials, and Audio Technology, alongside Understanding Music and Music, Culture and Society, which provide theoretical and contextual grounding. Live Music Production A introduces practical experience in live sound environments. In Year 2, students advance their technical and creative skills with modules including Desktop Music Production 2, Spatial Audio, and Studio Production, while gaining analytical insight through Production Analysis. They also explore industry applications through Live Event Audio Visual Systems and Inside the Music Business, broadening their understanding of professional practices. In Year 3, the focus shifts to advanced and professional-level work, with modules such as Advanced Music Production and Mastering and Sound for Visual Media, allowing students to specialise in areas like film and media audio. The Music Production Portfolio and Final Year Project enable students to showcase their skills and develop a substantial body of work, while Music Industry and Professional Skills prepares them for employment. Overall, the course offers a comprehensive mix of practical, technical, and professional development for careers in audio and music production.
