COURSE CURRICULUM

The Paramedic Science BSc(Hons) program provides a comprehensive pathway for students to develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competence required to become effective paramedics. In the first year, students are introduced to patient assessment and management, law, policy, and ethics for paramedics, non-technical skills, paramedic care across the lifespan, and foundational practical skills in Paramedic Skills 1. This year establishes a strong base in both theory and practice, preparing students for safe and effective patient care. In the second year, students build on this foundation with modules in anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, emergency care, advanced paramedic skills, patient assessment and management, and research and evidence-based practice. These modules deepen clinical knowledge and develop critical decision-making skills, ensuring students can respond to complex and urgent patient scenarios. The third year focuses on advanced professional practice, with modules in evidence-based practice and improvement, integrated urgent care, minor injury and illness care in the community, advanced paramedic skills, and transition to paramedic practice. Placements across diverse healthcare settings provide practical experience, enabling students to apply theoretical learning in real-world environments and develop confidence in multidisciplinary teams. By graduation, students are prepared for HCPC registration, equipped to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care in urgent and emergency healthcare environments.
