COURSE CURRICULUM

The program is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of both criminology and law through a balanced and progressive approach. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of social sciences alongside key legal principles, including the English legal system and law in society. They also study core topics in criminology and criminal justice, while developing essential research skills. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge by exploring criminological theories and explanations of crime, alongside more specialised legal subjects such as human rights law and the law of torts. They continue to build research and analytical skills, while also gaining insight into potential career pathways through modules focused on work and careers. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics in contemporary and comparative criminology, allowing them to examine crime across different social and global contexts. A final year project forms a key part of the program, giving students the opportunity to conduct independent research on a topic of their choice and demonstrate their critical thinking and analytical abilities. Overall, the course combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for careers in criminal justice, legal services, policy development, and related professional fields.
