COURSE CURRICULUM

The program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of crime and society through a sociological and interdisciplinary approach. In the first year, students are introduced to key concepts in criminology, criminal justice, and social sciences, alongside topics such as human rights in a global context and social psychology. This stage builds a strong foundation for understanding how individual behaviour and broader social factors influence crime. In the second year, students develop practical and analytical skills through modules focused on social research, exploring work and careers, and assessing community needs while learning how to design and develop resources to address social issues. This helps students gain real-world insight into how social challenges are identified and managed. In the final year, students engage in more advanced and specialised topics, including race, ethnicity, and difference, as well as contemporary and comparative criminology, allowing them to analyse crime across different societies and contexts. A final year project forms a key component of the course, giving students the opportunity to conduct independent research on a topic of their choice. Overall, the program combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for careers in criminal justice, social research, community development, and related fields.
