COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science BSc(Hons) degree is structured to build strong technical knowledge and practical skills across three years of study. In the first year, students develop a solid foundation in computing through modules such as procedural programming, object-oriented programming, computer organisation and architecture, and computer network fundamentals. They also study computing science and mathematics while working on a project that introduces problem-solving and practical application of programming concepts. In the second year, the course progresses to more advanced topics, including algorithms and data structures, operating systems, relational databases, and web integration, alongside an introduction to artificial intelligence. A team project allows students to collaborate on real-world problems, enhancing teamwork and communication skills. In the final year, students focus on independent and specialised learning through an individual project, where they apply their knowledge to design and develop a substantial piece of work. They also study distributed and client-server systems, gaining insight into modern computing environments and large-scale systems. Throughout the course, students develop programming expertise, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for a wide range of careers in the technology sector, including software development, systems engineering, and emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and distributed computing.
