COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biochemistry BSc(Hons) program is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of the molecular and chemical processes that sustain life, combining theoretical knowledge with practical laboratory experience. In the first year, students are introduced to foundational topics including Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Analytical Science, and Spectroscopy, alongside an exploration of the reactivity and properties of carbon compounds and human physiology. This initial stage emphasizes the development of research skills and scientific thinking, preparing students for more advanced study. In the second year, the focus shifts to deeper molecular-level understanding through modules in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry 2, and Molecular Analysis and Instrumental Methods, allowing students to apply practical techniques to experimental research and gain experience in data interpretation and laboratory practices. Throughout this stage, students further refine their investigative and analytical skills, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application. In the final year, students undertake an independent Research Project, giving them the opportunity to design, conduct, and present original experiments, complemented by the study of Current Topics in Molecular Life Sciences. The program equips graduates with the technical expertise, analytical skills, and scientific literacy necessary for careers in research, biotechnology, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries, or for further study at postgraduate level, preparing them to contribute to cutting-edge developments in biochemistry and molecular sciences.
