COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Technology BSc(Hons) program is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive understanding of building design, technology, and construction management. In the first year, students are introduced to construction business and law, gaining insight into legal frameworks and commercial considerations that underpin the construction industry. Design and construction practice modules develop practical skills in project planning, while building technology and digital communication equip students with the technical knowledge and digital tools necessary to create and convey architectural designs effectively. In the second year, the focus shifts to collaborative projects within the built environment, fostering teamwork and multidisciplinary problem-solving. Applied architectural technology modules deepen understanding of construction methods, materials, and structural systems, while building technology and digital detailing enhance proficiency in advanced digital tools and techniques. The final year emphasizes professional practice, preparing students for industry expectations and career readiness. Advanced digital detailing and sustainability modules develop expertise in creating environmentally responsible designs, while procurement and contract administration provide practical knowledge of project management, cost control, and contractual processes. The major project dissertation allows students to consolidate their learning, applying technical, creative, and research skills to a substantial individual project. Across the program, graduates develop the technical competence, creative problem-solving, and professional understanding needed to excel as architectural technologists.
