COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Biology BSc(Hons) program offers a comprehensive study of biological sciences, combining foundational knowledge with practical, real-world applications. In the first year, students explore core subjects including biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, physiology, and analytical science, while developing essential research skills. This provides a solid scientific base and prepares students for more advanced study. In the second year, the focus shifts to deeper exploration of molecular and cell biology, infectious diseases, and therapeutic approaches, alongside ecological adaptation and conservation management. Students also examine the Anthropocene, considering the impact of human activity on ecosystems and biodiversity. Research skills continue to be developed, supporting independent inquiry and critical thinking. The final year emphasizes applied knowledge and professional practice through modules such as communicating applied biology, current topics in molecular life sciences, and practical applied biology. Students undertake a research project, applying experimental techniques, data analysis, and problem-solving skills to investigate a specific area of biological science. Across all years, the program integrates hands-on learning, fieldwork, and contemporary scientific approaches, preparing graduates for careers in research, healthcare, environmental management, and biotechnology.
