COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music Performance BMus(Hons) program is structured to develop technical proficiency, artistic expression, and professional readiness for aspiring performers. In the first year, students build foundational skills through specialist performance, performance skills, composition, music, culture and society, understanding music, and technology for musicians. This combination of theoretical and practical modules provides a solid base for creative and technical development. The second year focuses on advanced performance and professional awareness, including modules in solo performance, extended solo practice, performance skills development, projects in musical cultures, and insights into the music business. Students apply their growing expertise in both individual and collaborative settings, gaining practical experience and exposure to industry practices. The third year emphasizes independent study, advanced performance, and professional preparation, with modules including advanced solo performance, extended performance projects, performance skills, independent projects, and music industry and professional skills. Throughout the program, students refine technique, interpretive ability, and ensemble skills while exploring diverse musical styles and contexts. Opportunities for performance, ensemble participation, and creative projects allow students to build a comprehensive portfolio, preparing them for professional careers.
