COURSE CURRICULUM

The Automotive and Motorsport Engineering with Foundation Year BEng(Hons) begins with a foundation year designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills needed for higher study in engineering. During this year, students explore key areas including communication and research, engineering investigative studies, foundation mathematics, and the fundamentals of engineering, building a solid base for the degree. In the first year of the degree, students study engineering computational skills, professional skills and research awareness, engineering science, electronic system fundamentals, engineering design, manufacture and test, and materials and mechanics, combining theoretical understanding with practical application. The second year reinforces these core engineering principles, allowing students to deepen their knowledge and problem-solving abilities while preparing for more advanced topics. In the final year, students focus on specialized subjects such as aerodynamics and computational fluid dynamics, project quality and production management, design analysis, and a final year project that integrates learning across all areas of the course. Throughout the program, hands-on experience, project-based learning, and multidisciplinary teamwork are emphasized, ensuring that graduates are ready to apply engineering principles in real-world automotive and motorsport contexts. This pathway prepares students for careers in mechanical and electrical design, vehicle engineering, and related high-performance industries, providing a strong foundation for technical expertise, innovation, and professional development.
