COURSE CURRICULUM

The Chemical Engineering with Chemistry BEng(Hons) degree offers a balanced curriculum that integrates core engineering principles with advanced chemistry knowledge across three years of study. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation in both disciplines, studying topics such as the reactivity and properties of carbon compounds, states of matter, kinetics and thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow, alongside chemical engineering design, laboratory work in inorganic chemistry, and mathematics. This provides essential scientific and analytical skills. In the second year, the course progresses to more advanced topics, including physical chemistry, transport processes, unit operations, chemical and biochemical reaction engineering, and multiphase systems. Students also explore organic synthesis strategies and continue developing their design skills, enabling them to understand complex chemical processes and industrial applications. In the final year, students apply their knowledge to real-world challenges through major design projects, focusing on process development and problem-solving. Additional modules in safety engineering, process control, advanced mass transfer, reaction engineering, sustainable industrial systems, and modern synthesis techniques allow students to explore both engineering and chemistry in greater depth. Overall, the program equips graduates with a strong combination of technical expertise, practical experience, and analytical skills, preparing them for careers in industries such as pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, energy, and chemical processing.
