COURSE CURRICULUM

The Automotive and Motorsport Engineering BEng(Hons) degree is structured to develop both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for a career in the automotive and motorsport industries. In the first year, students build a foundation in engineering through modules such as Engineering Computational Skills, Engineering Science, Electronic System Fundamentals, Materials and Mechanics, and Engineering Design, Manufacture and Test, alongside professional skills and research awareness. This provides essential knowledge in core engineering principles and prepares students for hands-on application in automotive contexts. In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced topics including Dynamic Systems, Analysis of Materials, Engineering Design, Thermofluids, Manufacturing and Production Systems, and Automotive Propulsion Systems, linking fundamental principles directly to automotive and motorsport engineering challenges. Students gain practical experience in analyzing and optimizing vehicle systems, production methods, and propulsion technologies. The third year emphasizes specialization and project work, with modules in Aerodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics, Project Quality and Production Management, Design Analysis, and the Final Year Project. These modules allow students to apply computational, design, and engineering management skills to complex, real-world problems, completing their preparation for careers as mechanical design engineers, design engineers, electrical engineers, and other technical roles in the automotive sector. The program blends rigorous theory, practical labs, and project-based learning to ensure graduates are ready for industry demands.
