COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fashion Design with Marketing BA(Hons) course at Huddersfield is structured to combine creative design, technical skills, and marketing knowledge, guiding students through a progressive learning journey over three years. In the first year, students focus on foundational elements, including fashion design practice, materials and processes, sustainable principles, fashion marketing fundamentals, and design realisation, providing a solid base in both creative and professional skills. In the second year, the curriculum builds on this foundation, allowing students to develop their personal brand through modules such as Brand Me, deepen their understanding of sustainable practices, refine marketing knowledge, and explore specialized design techniques such as tailoring and creative cut. This stage emphasizes experimentation and the application of skills in practical and conceptual projects, helping students define their design identity. The third year culminates in advanced practice and professional preparation, with students undertaking a major project, advanced fashion design practice, research and contextual studies, and professional practice, consolidating both creative and strategic expertise. Across all years, the course integrates practical studio work, industry-relevant skills, and exposure to contemporary design challenges, ensuring that graduates leave with a strong portfolio, technical proficiency, industry insight, and the ability to pursue careers in fashion design, marketing, brand development, merchandising, or related creative fields.
