COURSE CURRICULUM

The program is designed to develop a strong understanding of education and psychology through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application. In the first year, students explore key concepts in learning theories, child development, and contemporary childhoods, alongside an introduction to social psychology and counselling theory. This provides a foundation for understanding how individuals learn and develop within educational contexts. In the second year, students build on this knowledge by studying safeguarding children and young people, philosophical approaches to education, and more advanced topics in social and developmental psychology. These modules help students understand the emotional, social, and cognitive factors that influence learning and behaviour. In the final year, students focus on independent learning and specialisation. They complete a final year project, allowing them to research a topic of their choice in depth. Students can also choose between two routes based on their interests. One route focuses on health, wellbeing, inclusion, and supporting social and emotional needs in education, while the other explores psychological difficulties, clinical psychology, relationships, and the science of wellbeing. Overall, the course provides a balanced mix of education and psychology, preparing students for careers in education, counselling, and learner support.
