COURSE CURRICULUM

The program is designed to develop students’ creative and technical skills in costume and textiles through a structured progression over three years. In the first year, students build a strong foundation by exploring materials, processes, and practical techniques, alongside introductory costume design and construction. They also study textile practices and are introduced to sustainable principles, helping them understand responsible design approaches from the beginning. In the second year, students further develop their skills and personal identity as designers through modules such as Brand Me and Textiles for the Body, while advancing their abilities in costume construction and design. Sustainability remains an important focus, encouraging students to apply environmentally conscious methods in their work. In the final year, students engage in deeper research and contextual studies to inform their creative practice. They work on research and development projects that allow them to refine their ideas and techniques, alongside studying professional practice to prepare for industry careers. The course culminates in a major costume project, where students demonstrate their creativity, technical expertise, and conceptual thinking. Overall, the program combines practical skills, creative exploration, and professional development, preparing students for careers in costume design and the wider creative industries.
