COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architecture (RIBA Part 1) BA(Hons) program provides a structured, three-year pathway that develops students’ design, technical, and professional skills in architectural practice. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of architectural technology, design, and visual culture, alongside personal development in communication skills. Design studios focus on basic principles, theory, and form, allowing students to begin expressing creative ideas while understanding spatial concepts. In the second year, the curriculum builds on this foundation with integrated technology, exploration of architectural precedents, and advanced techniques of representation. Design studios guide students in responding to place and context while integrating multiple aspects of architecture into cohesive projects. Personal development continues to prepare students for professional engagement. The third year emphasizes advanced technical knowledge, materials, and tectonics, as well as independent research through an architectural dissertation. Design studios focus on complex projects such as event space design, fostering creative problem-solving and applied practice. Personal development culminates in professional studies, equipping students with the skills required for the architectural industry. Across all three years, the course balances theoretical understanding, practical application, and creative exploration, ensuring graduates are confident in both design and technical aspects of architecture. The program’s combination of technology, design studios, history, and personal development prepares students for RIBA Part 1 exemption and a strong foundation for professional architectural practice.
