COURSE CURRICULUM

The Acting, Performance and English Literature BA (Hons) program is structured to combine performance training with literary study across three years. In Year 1, students build a foundation through modules such as Studying Performance 2 and Text into Performance, where they develop acting techniques and learn how to interpret texts for performance. Alongside this, Critical Thinking and Introduction to English Literature introduce key analytical skills and explore a range of literary works, helping students understand different genres, contexts, and ideas. In Year 2, the focus deepens with modules such as The Gothic, which examines themes, styles, and cultural influences within this literary genre, alongside a Work Experience Placement that provides practical industry exposure and helps students develop professional skills. In Year 3, students engage with broader and more global perspectives through modules like Public Humanities and World Literature, encouraging them to explore literature’s role in society and across different cultures. Throughout the course, students continue to connect performance with literary analysis, developing both creative and critical abilities. This structure supports the growth of well-rounded graduates who are confident in performance, knowledgeable in literature, and equipped with transferable skills for careers in creative, cultural, or academic fields.
