COURSE CURRICULUM

The creative writing component of the Acting and Performance with Creative Writing BA (Hons) is designed to progressively develop students’ writing skills across three years. In Year 1, students are introduced to the fundamentals through the Introduction to Creative Writing module, where they explore different forms such as fiction, poetry, and scriptwriting while learning core techniques like structure, style, and storytelling. This stage builds a strong foundation and encourages creative expression. In Year 2, students deepen their skills with modules such as Writing Beyond the Page and Developing Your Craft. These focus on expanding writing across different media and formats, including performance-based and digital contexts, while refining individual style, voice, and technical ability. Students are encouraged to experiment and develop more confidence in their creative work. In Year 3, the focus shifts to producing and showcasing original work through modules like Creative Writing Project: Going Public and Experimental Writing. Students undertake substantial independent projects, often preparing their work for public audiences or publication, while also exploring innovative and unconventional approaches to writing. Overall, the program supports the development of versatile, confident writers equipped for creative and professional opportunities in various fields.
