COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Outdoor Environmental Education is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to lead and innovate in outdoor and environmental learning. The program emphasises the connection between humans and the natural world, exploring how outdoor education can address contemporary challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental sustainability. Students engage with both theoretical frameworks and practical applications, learning to facilitate outdoor learning experiences that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and active engagement with the environment. Core modules cover foundational theories and practices in outdoor education, techniques for connecting learners to nature and place, and methods for guiding inquiry-based learning. The curriculum also addresses pressing issues in climate and environmental education, equipping students to understand and respond to the impacts of environmental crises on learners and communities. Students develop leadership skills and a critical awareness of social, cultural, and policy factors affecting access to outdoor education, fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments.
