COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA International Relations program offers a diverse and comprehensive curriculum designed to provide students with a deep understanding of global politics, international systems, and contemporary challenges. Core modules such as Puzzles and Paradigms in International Relations, Governing the International, the Global, and the Planetary, The Politics of Conflict and Peace, and Designing Research in Global Politics equip students with critical analytical skills, theoretical frameworks, and research competencies necessary to understand and engage with complex global issues. Students also complete a substantial 60-credit dissertation, allowing them to conduct independent research on a topic of their choice and develop expertise in their area of interest. Optional modules provide opportunities for specialization, covering areas such as Globalising Economies and Emerging Markets, Energy and Environmental Politics, Geopolitics, Development and Diplomacy, Justice and Morality in International Relations, and the Geopolitics and Diplomacy of Sport, enabling students to tailor their studies to specific professional or academic goals. The program emphasizes both theoretical and practical learning, combining academic rigor with the development of transferable skills, including critical thinking, communication, and research. Graduates are prepared for careers in government, non-governmental organizations, international institutions, journalism, business, or further academic research, with the knowledge and skills to navigate and influence global political landscapes effectively.
