COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Film Production program combines practical and theoretical learning to provide students with an in-depth understanding of film production and screenwriting. Core modules include screenwriting and film production techniques, where students develop essential skills in directing, producing, cinematography, sound, and post-production, enabling them to create professional-standard work. Investigative Minds: Culture, Industry, Research equips students with the ability to critically examine the film and media industries, exploring cultural, economic, and technological factors that shape production practices and audience engagement. The Finding the Story: Major Project Development and Planning module allows students to conceptualise, plan, and develop ambitious projects, emphasizing research, creative decision-making, and narrative development. The Major Project in Film Production serves as the culmination of the program, giving students the opportunity to realise a significant, original work in either fiction or factual filmmaking. Through this combination of modules, students gain technical expertise, creative confidence, and industry awareness, preparing them for a range of careers in the film and media sectors.
