COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA 3D Modelling and VFX course is structured to provide a thorough and immersive learning experience, combining practical skill development with creative exploration. In the first stage, students focus on developing their core abilities in Practice 1, building a solid foundation in technical and artistic skills essential for 3D modelling, animation, and visual effects. This is complemented by the Digital Media: Sources and Significance module, which encourages critical thinking about media contexts, industry practices, and the cultural significance of digital content. Practice 2 allows students to further refine their creative project development skills, applying techniques in a more advanced and independent context. Exploring Professional Practice prepares students for the realities of the creative industries, providing insight into professional standards, workflows, and collaborative practices, which are vital for success in both studio and freelance environments. The course culminates in the Major Study: 3D Modelling and VFX, a substantial project where students integrate technical expertise, creativity, and research to produce a professional-standard portfolio piece. Throughout the program, students are supported in developing both practical and conceptual understanding, preparing them to enter or progress within the competitive fields of 3D modelling, animation, and visual effects, equipped with a strong portfolio, industry awareness, and collaborative experience.
