COURSE CURRICULUM

The therapeutic radiography degree provides a comprehensive pathway to becoming a skilled cancer care practitioner, integrating theoretical knowledge with extensive practical experience. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in anatomy, pathology, and physiology while developing an understanding of oncology, holistic patient care, radiotherapy science, imaging, and technology. Professional practice and evidence-informed approaches are introduced, alongside hands-on therapeutic radiography practice to prepare students for clinical environments. In the second year, the focus expands to more advanced aspects of oncology care, radiation dosimetry, radiobiology, and further development of technical and clinical skills in radiotherapy science and practice. Students continue to apply professional standards and evidence-based practice in increasingly complex patient scenarios, consolidating their ability to deliver safe and effective treatment. The final year emphasises autonomous clinical practice, professional decision-making, and advanced patient care management, integrating knowledge from prior years to manage cancer treatment holistically. Students also engage in research, enhancing critical thinking and understanding of innovations in therapeutic radiography. Across all three years, the course ensures graduates are competent in planning and delivering radiotherapy, managing the emotional, social, and psychological aspects of patient care, and supporting patients through the entirety of their treatment journey. The program equips students with the expertise, clinical confidence, and compassionate approach required for a rewarding career in therapeutic radiography.
