COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Sports Therapy degree provides a thorough grounding in the prevention, assessment, and management of sports-related injuries, combining theoretical knowledge with extensive practical experience. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in exercise prescription, fitness testing, musculoskeletal anatomy, and the examination and management of lower limb injuries, alongside rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic modalities, and principles of exercise physiology and nutrition. Academic skills are also integrated to support research and professional development. The second year builds on this knowledge, covering exercise and environmental physiology, sports trauma management, and the examination and management of upper limb injuries. Students gain practical experience in manual therapy, clinical biomechanics, and rehabilitation of sports injuries, while also learning research design to support evidence-based practice. The third year focuses on advanced topics and independent research, with modules including strength and conditioning, examination and management of the vertebral column, and working with special populations. Students complete an applied independent sports research project and undertake a substantial clinical placement, applying their skills in real-world professional environments. This combination of rigorous academic study, hands-on practical training, and professional placements equips graduates with the expertise and experience required to pursue careers in sports therapy, injury rehabilitation, performance enhancement, and related health and fitness sectors.
