COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Sports Business Management degree provides a comprehensive exploration of the business side of the sports industry, combining academic study with practical experience to prepare students for a successful career in sport. In the first year, students gain a foundation in the sports industry, examining national and international perspectives, sports as social and global phenomena, and key aspects of sport development, operations, coaching, and media communications. This initial stage establishes the knowledge and skills needed for both management and applied practice. In the second year, the course builds on this foundation with modules in research methods, sport marketing, public relations, sport finance, leadership, management of sport events, and global perspectives on sport development, alongside opportunities to explore ethics and funding in sport. This provides students with practical experience and strategic understanding relevant to real-world challenges in the sports sector. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics such as creating business strategies for sport, sport law and governance, contemporary issues in sport, sport sales and customer service, and professional practice, while completing a research or experience-based dissertation. The program also offers optional placements or study abroad opportunities, giving students the chance to gain industry experience, develop professional networks, and apply their skills in real-world contexts, preparing them for careers in sports management, marketing, events, and development at both national and international levels.
