COURSE CURRICULUM

This dietetics degree provides a comprehensive foundation in human nutrition, physiology, and health, preparing students to become competent and confident dietitians. In the first year, students study human physiology and metabolism, cell biology and microbiology, and the fundamentals of human nutrition, alongside food science, safety, and systems. They also explore health, society, and behavior, while beginning practical dietetic skills through practice-based learning, developing essential hands-on experience. In the second year, the program builds on this foundation with advanced study in nutrition, health, and disease, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and immunology. Students deepen their understanding of nutritional biochemistry and metabolism while continuing to enhance their dietetic skills through extended practice-based learning. Research methods for nutrition are introduced, equipping students with the ability to critically evaluate evidence and apply it to professional practice. The third year focuses on applied and specialized areas of dietetics, including clinical and contemporary dietetics, food and nutrition policy, and behavior change. Students engage in advanced practice-based learning, ensuring readiness for professional practice, and have the option to undertake a nutrition study abroad year. A dedicated nutrition research project provides experience in scientific inquiry, data analysis, and reporting. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge, research skills, and extensive practical experience, graduates are prepared for careers across clinical, community, research, and public health nutrition.
