COURSE CURRICULUM

This diagnostic radiography degree is designed to develop students into competent, professional radiographers equipped to meet the demands of modern healthcare. In the first year, students gain a strong foundation in professional practice and diagnostic imaging, alongside essential knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology covering the appendicular skeleton, chest, abdomen, spine, and pelvis. They also study the principles and applications of radiation science and technology, ensuring a thorough understanding of the core imaging techniques. In the second year, the focus shifts to developing professional practice and complex imaging skills, while extending anatomical and physiological knowledge across all body systems. Advanced imaging science and technology are introduced, alongside research methods tailored to diagnostic radiography and imaging, helping students develop analytical and evidence-based skills. The final year prepares students for autonomous practice, with modules in developing independent imaging practice, transitioning to professional practice, and preliminary clinical evaluation. Students also explore areas of special interest in imaging practice and apply research in healthcare contexts, fostering a critical understanding of how evidence informs clinical decision-making. Across all three years, the degree integrates practical experience and theoretical knowledge, ensuring graduates are highly skilled, adaptable, and ready to work effectively in a range of healthcare environments while keeping patient care central to their practice.
