COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Cyber Security and Networks) degree is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in computer science, combined with specialised knowledge in cybersecurity and network technologies. In the first year, students build core technical skills through modules such as Introduction to Programming and Discrete Structures, From Silicon to C, Data Modelling for Databases, Computational Problem Solving, and Team Software Project, developing programming, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities. The second year expands on these foundations with modules including Algorithms and Data Structures, Operating Systems and Networks, Accessibility and Usability, Artificial Intelligence, Computing Things, Database Systems, and Principles and Practices of Large-Scale Programming, alongside Career Planning to support professional development. In the third year, students focus on advanced topics and practical application, including Cyber Security, Network Protocols and Architectures, Incident Response and Digital Forensics, Responsible Computing, Software Architecture, and the Cyber Security and Networks Project, which provides a substantial hands-on challenge. Optional modules such as Machine Learning and Neural Computing, Advanced Database Topics, Robotics, User Experience, and opportunities for professional work placements or study abroad allow students to tailor their learning and gain additional experience. The program integrates theoretical knowledge with practical projects, preparing graduates for careers in cybersecurity, network engineering, IT consultancy, and other technology-focused roles in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
