COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) degree is structured to provide students with a solid foundation in computer science while developing specialised knowledge in artificial intelligence. In the first year, students gain essential skills through modules such as Introduction to Programming and Discrete Structures, From Silicon to C, Data Modelling for Databases, Computational Problem Solving, and Team Software Project, establishing core programming, problem-solving, and collaborative abilities. The second year expands on these foundations with modules in Algorithms and Data Structures, Operating Systems and Networks, Accessibility and Usability, Artificial Intelligence, Computing Things, Database Systems, and Principles and Practices of Large-Scale Programming, alongside Career Planning to support professional development. In the third year, students focus on advanced AI topics and real-world applications, including Advanced Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Adaptive Systems, Responsible Computing, Software Architecture, and the Artificial Intelligence Project, which provides a substantial practical challenge. Optional modules such as Machine Learning and Neural Computing, Robotics, Advanced Database Topics, User Experience, and opportunities for a professional work placement or study abroad allow students to tailor their learning and gain international or industry experience.
