COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Robotics and Artificial Intelligence degree at the University of Hertfordshire provides a comprehensive education in robotics, AI, and their practical applications, combining technical theory with hands-on projects. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Robot Design and Build Projects A and B, Maths for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Programming, Embedded Systems and Microcontrollers, Responsible Robotics, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Electronics. These modules introduce the principles of robot construction, programming, electronics, and ethical considerations while developing practical problem-solving skills. In the second year, students deepen their expertise with applied projects and specialised modules including Applied Robotics and AI Project, Scrum Project, Robot Sensors and Signal Processing, Behavioural Robotics, Electronics Practice for Robot Applications, Machine Learning, Mechatronics, and Soft Robotics and Bio-Inspired Design. This stage emphasises integrating AI with robotics, sensor technologies, and adaptive systems, providing opportunities to work on real-world challenges. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge through the BEng Individual Project in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence and modules such as Human-Robot Interaction and Ethics, Immersive Visualisation and User Interfaces, Robot Vision and Speech, Industrial Robotics, Robot Communication, and Autonomous Mobile Robots. Graduates emerge with strong technical expertise, practical experience, and interdisciplinary skills, ready for careers as robotics engineers, AI specialists, or innovators in autonomous and intelligent systems across multiple industries.
