COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Philosophy and Creative Writing degree combines analytical thinking with imaginative expression, offering students the opportunity to explore fundamental questions about life, knowledge, reality, ethics, and society while developing their creative voice. In the first year, students build a foundation in philosophical reasoning and critical thinking through modules such as Mind, Knowledge and Reality, The Meaning of Life, Philosophy of Fiction, and Sci-fi, Philosophy and Religion, alongside practical creative writing modules that introduce the fundamentals of storytelling, narrative structure, and literary craft. The program emphasizes the interplay between philosophy and literature, encouraging students to analyze texts critically while expressing ideas creatively. In the second year, students deepen their philosophical understanding through courses in Philosophy of Mind, Metaphysics, Logic, Philosophy of Love and Sex, and Philosophies of Religion, while honing creative skills through workshops in poetry, prose, and stage writing, as well as practical publishing experience. The third year allows students to specialize in advanced philosophical topics such as Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, and Philosophy of Race and Gender, while undertaking substantial creative writing projects in poetry, prose, or scriptwriting. Throughout the degree, students develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and communication skills, as well as practical experience in writing, preparing them for careers in writing, publishing, education, media, and other fields requiring strong intellectual and expressive abilities.
