COURSE CURRICULUM

The Video Game Design and Games Art program provides a comprehensive pathway for students aiming to build a career in the rapidly growing gaming industry. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules such as Introduction to CG, Applying CG, Creativity, Concept & Story, and Animated Thinking, building technical expertise alongside creative and conceptual abilities. The second year focuses on advancing students’ practical and professional skills with modules in Progressing Games Art, Creative Project, Games Design & Professional Practices, and Moving Visions, allowing students to refine their craft and apply their learning to complex projects. Opportunities to study abroad or undertake industry placements offer real-world experience and international exposure. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through Pre-Production for Games, Professional Practices & Degree Project, and Concepts in Motion: Articulated Research & Writing, enabling them to complete substantial independent projects that showcase their technical proficiency, creativity, and research abilities. Throughout the course, students engage with industry-standard tools, software, and creative practices, while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills essential for success in professional game development. By combining imaginative design, technical skill, and professional practice, graduates are well-prepared to enter roles in game design, games art, interactive storytelling, or related sectors and contribute meaningfully to the creation of engaging, high-quality games.
