COURSE CURRICULUM

The 3D and Visual Effects program at Kent is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive education in digital animation and visual storytelling. In the first year, students build foundational skills through modules such as Introduction to CG, Applying CG, Creativity, Concept and Story, and Animated Thinking, establishing a solid base in computer graphics, creative development, and animation principles. The second year focuses on advancing technical and creative skills with modules including Progressing 3D and Visual Effects, Creative Project, Pre-Production and Professional Practices, and Moving Visions, allowing students to apply their knowledge to complex projects and explore professional standards. Students also have the option to undertake a Year Abroad to gain international experience and broaden their perspectives. In the final year, students further develop their expertise with Pre-Production for 3D and Visual Effects, Professional Practices and Degree Project, and Concepts in Motion: Articulated Research and Writing. Optional opportunities for Study Abroad continue to provide global exposure. Across all three years, the program emphasizes practical experience, creative problem-solving, and professional readiness, enabling students to produce high-quality portfolio work while preparing for careers in animation, visual effects, and related creative industries.
