COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Engineering Management is an 18-month full-time postgraduate programme designed to equip students with the advanced technical knowledge, management expertise, and leadership skills required for senior positions within modern engineering industries. The course combines engineering principles with business management, financial analysis, operations strategy, and project leadership to prepare graduates for the challenges of managing complex engineering organisations and projects in a global environment. Students study Industrial Engineering, developing an understanding of production systems, process optimisation, efficiency improvement, and industrial operations management. System and Project Management provides the skills needed to successfully plan, organise, monitor, and deliver engineering projects while managing resources, budgets, quality standards, and project risks. Engineering Leadership and Enterprise focuses on leadership development, innovation, entrepreneurship, and organisational strategy, preparing students to lead multidisciplinary teams and support business growth and transformation. Emerging Technologies and Sustainability explores the influence of technological innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable practices on engineering industries and encourages students to consider environmental responsibility in engineering decision making. Engineering Management Decisions and Statistics develops quantitative and analytical skills that support evidence-based management through the application of statistical methods and data interpretation. Operation Research introduces mathematical modelling, optimisation techniques, and problem-solving approaches that improve operational efficiency and strategic planning. Supply Chain Management provides knowledge of procurement, logistics, inventory control, and global supply chain systems that are essential to modern industrial operations. Financial Management for Engineers develops understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, investment evaluation, and financial decision making within engineering organisations and projects. The programme concludes with the Engineering Research Project Dissertation, module code EG7110, which enables students to undertake independent research into an engineering management challenge while demonstrating advanced analytical, technical, and research skills. Graduates are prepared for careers in engineering management, project leadership, operations management, consultancy, manufacturing, supply chain management, and senior industrial positions, while also gaining a strong foundation for doctoral research and further academic study.
