COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Education, Ethics and Leadership curriculum provides an advanced study of educational leadership, ethics, pedagogy, sustainability, and research, preparing students for leadership and management roles across a wide range of educational settings. The programme begins with Ethics for Educators, which explores professional ethics, social justice, equality, inclusion, integrity, and ethical decision-making, enabling students to understand the moral responsibilities of educational leaders and practitioners. Research 1: Philosophy, Principles & Practice introduces the philosophical foundations of educational research, covering research paradigms, methodologies, ethics, and evidence-based approaches that support high-quality educational inquiry. Pedagogies, Principles & Practice examines contemporary teaching and learning theories, curriculum development, assessment strategies, learner engagement, and innovative educational practices that improve teaching effectiveness and student outcomes. Introduction to Educational Leadership provides students with a comprehensive understanding of leadership theories, organisational behaviour, management principles, and leadership models within educational contexts, helping them develop the knowledge and confidence required to lead individuals, teams, and institutions effectively. Education and Sustainability focuses on the role of education in promoting environmental responsibility, sustainable development, global citizenship, and socially responsible leadership while encouraging the integration of sustainability into educational policy and practice. Change and Influence in Ethical Educational Leadership explores strategies for leading organisational change, influencing educational improvement, managing innovation, resolving complex challenges, and fostering collaborative, inclusive, and ethical learning environments. Research 2: Making Meanings builds advanced research skills by developing expertise in qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, interpretation, critical evaluation, and academic writing, preparing students to undertake independent educational research. The programme concludes with the Dissertation: Education, Ethics and Leadership, where students complete an original research project on a topic related to educational leadership and ethics, applying the theoretical knowledge, research capability, and critical analysis developed throughout the course. Throughout the programme, students strengthen their leadership, communication, analytical, research, and reflective practice skills while engaging with contemporary educational challenges and evidence-based solutions. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates for careers as School Leaders, Educational Managers, Curriculum Leaders, Academic Coordinators, Policy Advisors, Educational Consultants, Teacher Educators, Government Education Officers, Leadership Development Specialists, and researchers within schools, colleges, universities, government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and international education sectors, while also providing an excellent foundation for doctoral study and continued professional development.
