COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc International Business, Law and Leadership curriculum provides a comprehensive combination of international law, commercial practice, strategic management, leadership, ethics, and professional development to prepare students for careers in global business and legal environments. All students complete Global Leadership Challenges: Leadership by Design, which explores contemporary leadership theories, innovation, entrepreneurship, organisational transformation, decision-making, and the challenges faced by leaders operating in complex international markets. Strategic Management develops students’ ability to analyse business environments, formulate competitive strategies, manage organisational change, and make effective decisions that support long-term business success. Fundamentals of International Law I introduces the core principles of international legal systems, including sources of international law, jurisdiction, treaties, international institutions, and the relationship between national and global legal frameworks. Fundamentals of International Law II builds on this knowledge by examining advanced international legal concepts, dispute resolution, international responsibilities, and legal issues affecting cross-border activities. International Commercial Law focuses on the legal principles governing international business transactions, contracts, commercial agreements, corporate relationships, and global trade practices, enabling students to understand how businesses operate within international legal frameworks. International Trade Law explores global trade regulations, international agreements, trade disputes, economic policies, and the legal mechanisms that influence international commerce. Law and Ethics in International Business and Corporate Governance examines responsible business practices, corporate accountability, sustainability, ethical decision-making, governance structures, compliance, and the social responsibilities of organisations operating globally. Research Methods develops advanced academic and professional research skills, including research design, data collection, critical analysis, legal research techniques, and evidence-based decision-making. Students can further personalise their learning through optional modules such as Dissertation, Work Placement in a Legal Environment, or Clinical Legal Education. The Dissertation allows students to conduct independent research into a specialised area of international business, law, or leadership, while Work Placement provides practical experience within a professional legal environment. Clinical Legal Education enables students to apply legal knowledge to real-world situations through practical legal problem-solving and client-focused activities. Throughout the programme, students develop essential skills in leadership, negotiation, communication, strategic thinking, legal analysis, problem-solving, and international business decision-making. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates for careers in international corporations, legal consultancies, trade organisations, compliance departments, government agencies, financial institutions, business advisory firms, non-governmental organisations, and policy development roles, while also providing a strong foundation for further academic research or professional advancement in international business and law.
