COURSE CURRICULUM

The Nursing programme follows a comprehensive three-year structure designed to develop students into confident, knowledgeable, and professional adult nurses capable of delivering high-quality patient care across a variety of healthcare settings. During the first year, students establish strong foundations in nursing theory and practice through modules including Foundation Nursing Practice, Health and Wellbeing, Foundation Nursing Care, Academic Skills for Health and Social Care, Scientific Enquiry in Nursing, and Care and Skills Provision for Adult Nursing. Students also begin their professional development journey through the My Professional Journey module, which encourages reflection, self-awareness, and the development of professional values and behaviours expected of registered nurses. The second year focuses on developing more advanced clinical knowledge and practical skills through modules such as Developing Nursing Practice, Public Health and Inequalities for Nursing, Research Design and Data Analysis, and Interdisciplinary Team Working. Students gain expertise in health assessment, clinical decision making, medicines management, and the care of patients with chronic health conditions through specialist adult nursing modules. Professional growth continues through the My Professional Journey modules, supporting students as they develop increasing confidence and responsibility within clinical practice environments. During the final year, students consolidate their learning and prepare for registration as professional nurses through modules including Consolidating Nursing Practice, Leading High Quality and Safe Care in Nursing, Medicines and Public Health, Contemporary Nursing and Innovation, and Adult Nursing Specialisms. Students also complete an Independent Project that allows them to investigate an area of nursing practice in greater depth while developing research and evidence-based practice skills. The programme places strong emphasis on leadership, patient safety, service improvement, and innovation in healthcare, ensuring graduates are prepared for the challenges of modern nursing practice. Throughout all three years, students participate in extensive clinical placements and practical learning experiences that allow them to apply theoretical knowledge in real healthcare settings and work as part of multidisciplinary teams. Overall, the programme prepares graduates for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and successful careers delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centred nursing care.
